چکیده

The environmental benefits from Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) schemes can often be enhanced if private land managers are induced to enrol in a spatially coordinated manner. One incentive mechanism which has been proposed achieve such spatial coordination is the agglomeration bonus, two-part payment scheme offers pecuniary (financial) reward decisions that lead greater of enrolled land. However, farmers respond range motives when deciding whether participate schemes, including non-pecuniary as concern environment or social comparisons. This study implements de-contextualised laboratory experiment test effectiveness bonus explicitly incorporated into decision-making environment. We capture intrinsic preferences public good dimension improvement through real donation charities and examine relative impact group-ranking nudge. experimental results show does indeed improve participation accounted for, but its performance not by

Eliciting GPs' preferences for pecuniary and non-pecuniary job characteristics.

This study examines General Practitioners' preferences for pecuniary and non-pecuniary job characteristics in the context of choosing a general practice in which to work. A discrete choice experiment is used to test hypotheses about the nature of the utility function. Marginal rates of substitution between income and non-pecuniary characteristics are calculated. The results suggest that policie...

The Prospects for Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) in Vietnam: A Look at Three Payment Schemes

Global conservation discourses and practices increasingly rely on market-based solutions to fulfill the dual objective of forest conservation and economic development. Although varied, these interventions are premised on the assumption that natural resources are most effectively managed and preserved while benefiting livelihoods if the market-incentives of a liberalised economy are correctly in...

Enhancing ecosystem restoration efficiency through spatial and temporal coordination.

In many large ecosystems, conservation projects are selected by a diverse set of actors operating independently at spatial scales ranging from local to international. Although small-scale decision making can leverage local expert knowledge, it also may be an inefficient means of achieving large-scale objectives if piecemeal efforts are poorly coordinated. Here, we assess the value of coordinati...

Payment for Ecosystem Services from Forests

Payment for Ecosystem Services from Forests Every year between 2000 and 2010, our planet lost native forests roughly the size of Costa Rica. (FAO, 2010). This rapid deforestation has dramatically changed the chemical composition of the world’s atmosphere, the level of biodiversity, and the presence of vegetation key to maintaining watershed function and preventing landslides. There has been a b...
